Beginnings:
Escuelas Si! Pintas No! Youth Organizing for Equal Justice and Education (ESPINO) is a Central Valley-wide coalition that includes partners of the Central Valley Partnership (CVP), Civic Action Network Grantees (CAN), and Community-based organizations. ESPINO's foundation grew out of the CVP's Education Committee and originated in spring of 2003. Escuelas Si! Pintas No! addresses the schools to jails pipeline that many underrepresented youth face in the Central Valley and promotes access to education as well as alternatives to incarceration.
